Bold Journey Article

Katie, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

My self-discipline comes largely from my father. Growing up, I watched him work tirelessly to provide for our family. His military background deeply ingrained in me the belief that if you want something, you have to work for it.

After graduating from college, I realized that with freedom comes the responsibility to make choices that can either propel you forward or hold you back. Moving out of my family’s home and settling near my college in Atlanta marked the beginning of putting self-discipline into practice. As someone who loves to socializing and exploring new things, immersing myself in the city’s energy broadened my perspective on what I am capable of.

Having practiced Taekwondo as a teenager, staying active and prioritizing my health has always been important to me. Over time, I’ve learned that the key to growth is discovering what works best for you—whether it’s the right self-help books, creating an effective workout routine, or finding ways to live more efficiently.

I’ve always believed that true motivation comes from within, and it’s perfectly normal to have to continuously spark your own fire. There’s no shame in constantly striving for improvement. The desire to better yourself isn’t a sign of dissatisfaction but rather a commitment to becoming the best version of who you are.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hello! I’m Katie, a fitness enthusiast who’s all about including strength training with the great outdoors. Whether I’m hitting the gym, practicing martial arts, or exploring new hiking trails, I’m passionate about staying active and finding a balance through movement.

I share tips from my fitness journey on staying fit, eating healthy, and embracing nature. My goal is to inspire others to see fitness as a lifestyle—whether it’s lifting weights, hiking through nature, or fueling your body with nutritious, wholesome foods.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most impactful lessons in my journey have been my ability to adapt to change, stay positive and calm, and, most importantly, embrace patience.

Everything starts from within—whether it’s your perspective on a situation or the actions you choose to take, you are in control of the direction your life goes.

Remaining calm and composed through life’s changes is one of the greatest strengths when it comes to navigating and shaping your lifestyle.

Once you can combat every challenging situation with ease, you will have the confidence in your abilities to withstand all tribulations. You already have the tools to succeed, you just need to take action.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most valuable lesson my parents taught me was how to maintain a healthy routine and lifestyle that fosters longevity in every aspect of life—whether it’s social, physical, mental, or spiritual.

By taking things one day at a time, I’ve learned to stay present and not dwell on the past or worry about the future. With their unwavering support, I’ve been able to confidently pursue my dreams, step out into the world, and live my best life.
